The Shrine of Our Lady of Mentorella, another one of monasteries founded by St. Benedict, is located in Prenestini Mountains, about 1050 meters above sea level, 40 km east of Rome, just below the large rocky mountain called Monte Guadagnolo (the highest peak of the Prenestini Mountains).
The little place, in the earlier annals of the country, bears various names. It is called Vultuilla, Bulturella and Vulturella, all derived evidently from the Latin root, mons vulturum (the mountain of falcons).
