The Fish Pondes are constituted by three large rectangular basins arranged in a row, bordered by lush vegetation and animated by thin jets which spring from the vases that decorate the balustrades.
At the time of their construction, the fish ponds served as a breeding ground for choice species of fish. Nearby, luxurious kiosks were built for those who wanted to rest during a stroll or for those who needed fishing tackle in order to catch the fish.
In this way the guests of the Cardinal not only enjoyed healthy surroundings and the enchanting waters of the fountains, but could also have the pleasure of catching trout and fresh water fish out of the ponds.
The swans are no longer here, but the fish still abound, ready to surface for a bread crumb tossed onto the emerald water.
